DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY - CLINICAL
LECTURER IN PSYCHOLOGY (ONE POST)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teaching, curriculum development and co-ordinating programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
- Supervising postgraduate research commensurate with the post level;
- Supervising practical work in the MA (Clinical Psychology) programme, commensurate with the post level;
- Conducting research commensurate with the level of appointment and actively contributing to the Department’s research profile;
- Performing various academic and administrative duties as determined by the Head of Department;
- Participating in the Department’s strategic initiatives relating to teaching, research and community engagement;
- Contribute to transdisciplinary engagements in teaching and research.
EXPERIENCE
- Professional practice experience as a Clinical Psychologist;
- Ability to train student psychologists and supervise their practical work;
- Ability to lecture psychodynamic psychotherapy at postgraduate level;
- Ability to lecture in at least two, but preferably more, of the following areas: introductory psychology, biological psychology; cognitive psychology, psychological assessment, social psychology, developmental psychology; community psychology.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology;
- Registration with the HPCSA as a Clinical Psychologist;
- Evidence of research productivity (e.g. publications in peer-reviewed journals or equivalent);
- Significant progress with PhD studies.
